Obumneme Egwuatu, Esq.
Obumneme is a founding partner of Elesinmogun & Egwuatu. Mr. Egwuatu advises on compliance with U.S. and international anti-corruption measures such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act as well as U.S. anti-money laundering laws and export controls. Obumneme works with clients by developing anti-corruption compliance programs, performing due diligence , providing training and investigations on risky business practices . He specializes in companies that are investing in the Nigerian and African market. In addition to his strong background in international law, he also has a solid background in corporate law, international arbitration, international trade law and transactional practice.
After graduating from Middlesex University Law School in London, England in 1999, he received an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from George Washington University Law School. Obumneme subsequently became a member of the New York Bar in 2003, a member of the Maryland Bar in 2007 and the District of Columbia Bar in 2010. He also worked as an intern at The Africa Fund, where he gained valuable experience analyzing and researching African issues related to domestic/international policies, international trade, protection of human rights and the advancement of democracy.
Obumneme is the current Vice-President of an NGO in Nigeria (Health and Economic Empowerment for Women). Health and Economic Empowerment for Women empowers women to improve their health and economic well-being so as to contribute towards the improvement of the overall Human Development Index of the country.
